- Manali Sanctuary was officially declared in the year 1954 on the 26th February under the Punjab Birds and Wild Animals Protection Act 1933.

- Manali-Wildlife Manali Sanctuary is a home to several numbers of wild life animals, birds and plants.
- These include common as well as a few rarest species.
- The forest is engulfed and surrounded by trees like horse chestnut, walnuts, kail, deodars, maple trees giving it a different view altogether. Some of the animals seen here are- the Snow Leopard, Brown Beer, Stripped Hyena, Barking Deer, Indian Hare, Musk Deer, and Himalayan Yellow Throated Marten etc.
- It also provides shelter to a large number of birds including the migratory guests like the Ibex in the summers.

- By Air : Bhuntar which is abour 50 KM from Manali is the nearest airport. You should hire a Cab or board a bus to reach Manali.
- By train : Travelling by a train may not seem to be a good idea for those who want to save on time. The nearest train port is Joginder Nagar which is 95 KM from Kullu. You could hire a Cab or a bus from Kullu to Manali and enjoy the scenic beauty en route.
- By Road : One can go to Manali through the Kullu valley while enjoying the bountiful beauty of nature. Manali is well connected to a few other major tourist junctions as well via road.
