Bhitargaon Temple, Kanpur

An ancient temple, Bhittargaon,  is built out of large bricks, standing tall at 15.41 meters. 

• This ancient temple is a masterpiece of the Gupta period.
• Bhitargaon Temple is set in mud mortar and is an example of skillful craftsmanship of workers.
• They decorated the exteriors of the temple with intricate carvings on the brick and terracotta panels.

• The architecture of Bhitargaon Temple proves that this excellent temple has survived many many years. 
• The temple consists of only the sanctum and the porch in the interiors. 
• The sanctum of the temple stands incomplete indicating the absence of an upper chamber that was struck by lightning and destroyed in the 18th century.
