- One of the most revered pilgrimage sites Pandharpur is in Maharashtra is is a town in Solapur district in state of Maharashtra.
Pandharpur has the "Kuladivat" of Maharashtra State- Shree Vithoba and Rukmini, on the banks of the river.
- Bhima river is called as "Chandrabhaga" near Pandharpur, as it flows like half moon shape.
- It is also known by the other names, Pandurang, Vitthal or Pandhari.
- And it is said that an incarnation of Lord Shiva and Vishnu has taken place here.
- The Vithoba temple attracts about a million Hindu pilgrims during the
major yātrā (pilgrimage) in the month of Ashadh (June–July).
- This temple, covering a vast area, has a total of six gates. The eastern entrance to this temple is known as the Namdev gate.
- The sanctum enshrines a standing image of Vithoba.
