Ramkund


The Ramkund Tank is one of the prime attractions in the region of Nashik. This  pious tank is 27 m by 12 m and was built in 1696 by Chitrarao Khatarkar. Constructed more than 300 years back, this tank dates back to 1696, when it was built by Chitarao Khatarkar. It is believed that Rama and Sita used to bathe in this tank during their exile.

Ramkund attracts numerous worshippers who come to take a dip here. It is at a distance of 10 km from the Nashik bus stand.

Staunch Hindu believers immerse the ashes of a dead person in this tank for the soul to attain liberation or moksha. Many famous political figures like Indira Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru have been immersed here.

In this tank of holy water immerse a dead person's ashes so that the soul of the dead person can attain moksha.

The ashes of numerous personalities such as Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Y B Chavan and others have been immersed at Ramkund.
It is religious place for Hindus even today,
