Malshej Ghat
Malshej ghat is located in Pune, Maharashtra. This hill station is known for its special attraction for walkers, hikers, adventurers and nature lovers. Malshejghat is at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level.

The site is home to hundreds of different types of flora and fauna, especially bird population as quail, rails, crakes, flamingos and cuckoos.
How to get
Malshej ghat is located in Pune district near the borders of Thane and Ahmednagar districts. It is at a distance of 154 km south of Mumbai towards northeast and 130 km north of Pune. The nearest railway station is at Kalyan near Mumbai. To go to Malshej ghat road from Mumbai, take NH3 to Bhiwandi and turn Murbad or take the state road through Kalyan, Murbad, Saralgaon and Vaishakhareklm.

A beautiful view of the valley is one of the big draw here. It is also famous for dark woods and animals inside. These animals include tigers, leopards, rabbits and peacocks, etc, but really a famous place near Malshej Ghat is Khireshwar which is 2/3 km from the rest house. Through Khireshwar village, you can visit the famous Harishchandragadh too. One of the beauties here are many waterfalls in the mountainous regions. The bird Graves
The ghat has the dubious distinction of being a graveyard of small birds during the onset of the monsoons. Most birds nest on the cliffs of the Western Ghats. This season, heavy wind, rain and fog often result in birds getting disoriented. As many of the birds gravitate to the bright lights of passing vehicles, the birds hit the cliff faces often leads to death. However, this has decreased in recent years according to local naturalists. What do such illustrious Malshej Ghat is the great people of migratory birds from Siberia between July and September. Accommodation
Since the area is at a considerable distance from a small town, there are not many upscale restaurants and shopping centers. Flamingo Hill is a resort run by MTDC - Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation around. MTDC resort Besides, there are other private stations where you can spend a day or two. The accommodation is also available in a nearby village called Madh. Madh is far from Malshej ghat about 6 km.
