Baneshwar: Located 30 km from Pune. This place is known for its scenic beauty and the Temple Baneshwar. There is a garden and a small stream behind the temple. Visitors enjoy playing and swimming around here.
"Ban" - Forest and Ishwar - God, ie God within a forest. This is the origin of the name of the temple Baneshwar. The name was very attractive and looking up on Google Earth, I saw that the temple was in the middle of a dense green patch. It's not the size of a forest, but a whole expansive green patch. How to go to the temple Baneshwar of Pune (Magarpatta): Go on Solapur road (towards Grand Bazaar). Follow signs to Swargate. In the Swargate junction, turn left towards Katraj. Go straight. Approximately 11 km after the toll, you reach a junction. On the right side of the road (strangely), you'll see a green card in Hindi spots for many places, the first three of which are of Shree Baneshwar - 3 kms, Rajgad - 20 kms and Torna Fort - 30 kms. You have to go in this way to reach the temple.

It is a small temple with a knife inside ling. You can buy flowers outside offering to God. The dome of the temple is full of color and is a beautiful sight in the evening light. The grounds around the temple seem to be the main attraction of the temple itself instead. There are plenty of trails created through this jungle with ample rest spots and open areas for a picnic. Of course, there were many people who practice spitting Hobby State (apart from the other hobby of trekking), despite the fact that they were inside a temple compound. The dense Greenert is a great place to spend an afternoon with the family.
One path will take you to the river, where there is a waterfall. This road is muddy and can be quite "gross" to negotiate after the rains. It is a walk of about half a km. The waterfall was not spectacular as it was written on many blogs. Perhaps, the monsoon is yet to get fully. The area around the waterfall was like a mini-Nighoj (due to less water) and people were climbing into the canyon which made for a good adventure.
